Stop guessing and start fixing. This Samsung electric dryer is a frequent flier on service routes, usually for "no heat" or "squealing like a banshee" complaints. We’re ripping this unit down to the frame so you can identify the failure points—specifically that buried heating element—and get the ticket closed fast.
STEP 1: Top Deck & Console Delete
Start at the back. Remove the upper screws to release the top panel—lift the back side first to pop the front clips. Disconnect the console (control panel) using the pinch connections; don't fight them, they only fit one way. Remove the control board housing to clear your path.
STEP 2: Front Panel "Roll & Lift"
Move to the front. Open the door and hit the three screws inside the frame, plus the top screws holding the assembly. Here’s the pro move: lift and roll the front panel to release it from the locking tabs without breaking them. Disconnect the door switch and set the assembly aside.
STEP 3: Belt Drop & Drum Extraction
Reach under the drum to find the idler pulley. Push the tensioner to the left to slack the belt and slip it off the motor pulley. With the belt loose, use it as a handle to lift the drum up and out of the cabinet. This exposes the entire belly of the beast.
STEP 4: Blower & Motor Teardown
The motor and blower assembly come out together. Disconnect the pinch connectors and remove the screws securing the housing. You'll need to slide the assembly to disconnect the exhaust tube. While you're here, check the thermal cutoff and thermistor on the blower housing—these are prime suspects for heating issues.
⚠️ STEP 5: The Money Maker: Heating Element Clamshell
This is why you're here. The heating element is trapped inside a metal clamshell housing held by seven screws. Open it up to inspect the coils. If you see a break or a "crack at the rack," it's trash. Swap the whole assembly to prevent a callback.
STEP 6: Rear Rollers & Bulkhead
Remove the four screws on the back of the cabinet to release the rear bulkhead. This gives you full access to the rear support rollers and the roller studs. These wheels take a beating; if they spin rough or wobble, replace them now.
